Objectives

At the end of the course, the participant will be able to:
i. Describe the regulations and code of practice of confined space work;
ii. Identify hazards prior and during entry into the confined space;
iii. Be familiar with the common confined space entry equipment, i.e. Gas Detector, ELSA, Man Riding Winch,
Tripod, etc;
iv. Test and interpret the gas test result;
v. Demonstrate the gas testing operations and the procedure to be taken in the event of an emergency;
vi. Be certified as an Authorised Gas Tester & Entry Supervisor

Course Contents

• Related Legislations pertaining to Safe Working in a confined space;
• Hazard identification and control measures;
• Procedures of entry;
• Duties / responsibilities of permit issuer, Authorised Gas Tester and Entry Supervisor;
• Permit To Work and Job Hazard Analysis;
• Functions and types of ventilators;
• Gas testing and Monitoring Equipment;
• Functions and types of breathing apparatus.

Entry Requirement(s)

i. Attended and passed the Authorised Entrant & Stand-by Person for Confined Space course;
ii. Possessed a Minimum SPM/MCE/SPVM and equivalent with credit in science and with at least 5 years experience in confined space occupation

Methodology

The delivery has a balance of lectures, workshops & video presentation to assist participants to interpret the OSH requirements in practical situations, together with the questions & answer sessions.
